 MAJULAH WEEKENDER EPISODES

The first episode of Majulah Weekender 2.0 features the pairing of musician, producer and entrepreneur, Shaykhandbake, and multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter, Rangga Jones on a brand new collaborative track, ‘On My Mind’

The song delves into the feelings after a breakup, of being misunderstood and being drenched in regret. The track catches listeners by surprise as it starts off with a smooth R&B melody that transitions into a dance number.

The second episode of the Weekender series features the pairing of musician and producer Claire Chew and independent musician Kitty Purrnaz. The two collaborated to produce ‘One Mississippi’, a lighthearted song that revolves around the comfort and security found in friendships during tough times.

Produced to mimic a phone conversation with a friend, the track is a fusion of upbeat numbers with a Latin-style groove that will surely have you grooving and vibing.

The third episode of Majulah Weekender features the grouping of an iconic trio - Producer Perk Pietrek, rapper AE$OP CA$H & singer-songwriter Feez. The three gathered together in a collaborative track which reflects the impact of COVID-19 on artists.

‘Don’t Wanna Go’ is all about taking a positive approach to life amidst tough times and appreciating the simple moments that are often taken for granted. Going back to the basics, the beat of the track is simple and groovy, reminiscent of early 2010 hip-hop tracks.

The fourth episode of Majulah Weekender features young talent Viticz coming in hot with a remix of episode 2’s upbeat track, ‘One Mississippi’ by Claire Chew and Kitty Purrnaz.

Energetic and addictive, Viticz gave the previously lighthearted and comforting track a new colour, sprucing up the track with a fusion of different eras of music from the 80s, modern eurodance and dubstep. The track is a perfect embodiment of Viticz’s quirky, anime-nerd personality that includes an exhilarating beat drop which will surely have you head-bopping.

S2E5 Majulah Weekender: Remixed features electronic-pop producer and prodigy Foxela with a remix of Shaykhandbake & Rangga Jones' ‘On My Mind’, from Ep 1 of our Weekender series.

The track, which delves into the feelings of a breakup, evolved from its smooth R&B melody to a dance-heavy deephouse number incorporating heavier bass beats, making it appropriate for any sad breakup dance party.

S2E6 Majulah Weekender: Schools kickstarts with the pairing of up-and-coming producer PravOnTheLoose and young talent Leeray for collaborative track ‘Side Eyes’.

‘Side Eyes’ is a quirky and flirtatious song to describe the tension you share with someone, yet not wanting to pursue anything further. It’s when you shoot flirty side eyes at an attractive stranger on your daily commute and enjoy the moment as it is. Simple and upbeat, the track uses urban pop production elements with hints of groovy beats.

S2E7 Majulah Weekender: Schools features the pairing of producer evanturetime and fresh face singer-songwriter owellciao on a brand new collaborative track, ‘love always,’.

‘love always,’ was written and produced in a way that expresses the feelings of being in a relationship with the right person at the wrong time, and breaking up with someone to avoid the painful process of a long-distance relationship. Honest and sincere, 'love always,' is a love letter filled with unsaid words that evoke feelings of longing and grief.

S2E8 Majulah Weekender: The season finale of Majulah Weekender features the pairing of notable producer, MYRNE, and young talent, Joy Alexis, from LASALLE College of the Arts. The duo came together to create ‘Desire’ - a garage house track.
